Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2

Inspired by the Blair Witch Project, five young pop-culture devotees return to the creepy woods of Burkittsville, Maryland to tempt the homicidal tendencies of the fated Blair Witch. Although this film is technically a real movie - both scripted and directed - it manages to capture the pseudo-documentary style of its predecessor with handy-cam shots and metadrama. Here, art imitates life imitating art, adding a layer of meaning to this highly anticipated sequel.

The owls used in the film were actually animatronic puppets, and the "barking dog" burglar alarm was a sound effect. Three German Shepherds were used in one scene, but only briefly. They barked on cue at the character named Jeff, then disappear into the darkness.
