Featured Animal Action

There is a scene where Jericho opens a refrigerator and a black cat hisses and then jumps the short distance from the refrigerator to the floor. Two cats were used for this scene. One cat was trained to jump from the refrigerator onto a piece of plywood secured over the camera. The other cat was placed inside the refrigerator with the camera rolling. The door was immediately opened and then the trainer cued the cat to hiss and snarl and then given a food reward. In an earlier scene a rattle snake is used for a ritual. The snake is seen in a jar and a man reaches inside and picks it up by the head. While holding it up he then takes a large knife and cuts the snake in the body area. A real and an animatronic snake were used. The real snake was used for the establishing shot and then replaced by the fake one. The trainer placed the snake in the jar and retrieved it at completion of the shot.
