Josh and S.A.M.

Josh & S.A.M. is a heart warming story about two brothers trying to deal with everyday life in a broken family. Josh, 12, and Sam, 7 1/2, are troubled youths since the break up of their parents. They never seem to be able to get along and basically don't like each other much. They are shuffled back and forth between the divorced parents and their spouses, who are more interested in themselves than the very apparent problems of their children. One day Josh, just to be spiteful, tells Sam that he is not really human but that S-a-m stands for a Strategically Altered Mutant and that their parents sold Sam to the government so he could fight secret wars as a child warrior. Josh continues with his story, stating that the only way to get help for Sam is to find the Liberty Maid, as she is the one that leads all of the altered mutant children to the underground to safety. Sam is devastated and insists that they go in search of the Liberty Maid. This journey will change both of their lives forever.

Featured Animal Action

Animal action is limited to one scene in which Josh and Sam have set up camp for the night. As the boys sleep, a cougar comes into their campsite. The cougar sniffs around the boys' faces, hears something, and leaves the sleeping children. To accomplish this scene, a hole large enough for the cougar's trainer to fit in was dug in the area where the boys' were lying. The trainer called the cougar from inside the hole and rewarded him with food to make it appear as though the cougar was actually sniffing the boys. Another trainer, who was out of camera range, then called the cougar to come, where he received another food reward.
