Featured Animal Action

In the opening scene, a crow flies down on the scarecrow's arm, struts back and forth and begins pecking at an eye, pulling straw from it. A gloved hand suddenly swipes the bird off the shoulder. It falls dead on the ground. This scene was shot in cuts. To accomplish the scene, the trainer stood on a ladder off camera. With her gloved hand, which was supposed to be the scarecrow's, she merely reached out as she would if the raven was stepping up onto her arm. A fake crow was used for the dead one. In another scene, Reverend Thaddeus Goodman runs from the scarecrow through the pews in the church. He knocks one of the pews over and a pig scurries down the aisle. To accomplish this scene, one trainer released the pig who ran A to B to another trainer who was holding food as a reward.
