After Roy hits the pelican's perch the bird flies away. The pelican had been conditioned to fly off at the sound of air being expelled. This scene was shot in cuts. A compressed air hose had been inserted inside the perch and when expelled, the air forced the ball from the hole under the bird making it look as if the ball hit the perch. The ball did not come into contact with the bird. Other animal action consists of an armadillo in two different scenes walking across the road. To protect the armadillo the road had been closed off to all traffic
