Christmas Vacation

Sight gags and slapstick abound in this very funny farce from the National Lampoon folks. Clark Griswold is a family man who likes to pull out all the stops when it comes to celebrating Christmas. His tree must be the biggest, his lights the brightest. To achieve his goals, whatever can go wrong does, but Griswold is indefatigable and his wife and family are loyal and loving. Griswold must also contend with an ungrateful boss and the most obnoxious, inconsiderate relatives a man could have.

There are accidents aplenty as when the family cat executes himself while chewing on tree lights (you just see a smoldering hole in the shape of a cat). The family dog, Snots, (so named because of a persistent sinus condition) chases a squirrel throughout the house. A mechanical squirrel or puppet was partly used; and when the real squirrel was used, it was filmed separately from the dog.
