A black German Shephard on a leash lunges toward an actor. The dog was tied to a pole with 10 feet of movement available. One trainer, off camera, cues a second trainer to release the dog. Verbal and hand signals were used to cue the dog to stay next to the actor. One of the trainers hits a whip on a protective arm sleeve creating a noise. This gets the dog to growl and bark.
