Texasville
Texasville is the sequel to the 1971 film The Last Picture Show. It takes a look at that same town and its inhabitants some thirty years later. Duane is now a philandering oil tycoon some 20 million dollars in debt, stuck in a stagnant marriage with obnoxious children. He's a sad and lonely man who feels the only one who loves him is his dog, Shorty, who goes everywhere with him. Another sad and lonely person is Duane's high-school sweetheart Jacy who is mourning the death of her only child. She has returned to her hometown after making films and living in Europe for many years. The story takes a slice of small-town Texas life and explores relationships, lost dreams and life's compromises with reality.

Shorty is Duane's constant companion until Jacy spirits him away to cure her loneliness. Although Shorty is present in many scenes, they are very simple scenes and do not involve stunts. A highlight of the film is the town's Centennial celebration which includes a number of horses. There's a hilarious parade where the county's oldest living citizen is propped up and tied to his horse but keeps slipping over in the saddle. The rider was actually a stunt double astride a trained film horse.
