Barbarians At The Gate

Barbarians at the Gate is based on the true story of the RJR/Nabisco Company takeover.

Ross Johnson, a workaholic since the age of 9, has headed up the Nabisco Company for many years. The company has just invested millions in a new product, the smokeless cigarette. Stock holders are getting anxious about the product, but Ross is sure it will be a success. Sure, that is, until he lights one up and the smell resembles a fart and the taste is that of a turd. Word leaks out about the cigarettes, making stock holders more nervous than ever. Ross decides that he will offer to buy out the company, giving the share holders a substantial profit per share, as he has faith in his beloved company. Word of this leaks out as well. Now everyone jockeys for position as this multi-million dollar company goes up for bid.

Featured Animal Action

Animal action is simple. Ross and his wife have a pet German Shepherd which is seen being petted, lying around and getting doggie treats. The dog is also seen at the end of the movie traveling in his doggie carrier in the cargo area of a jet. For this the dog was merely placed in his carrier, which was not actually on a jet, and removed when the scene was completed. Two other couples also have pet dogs which are seen lying in bed and two women riding horses through the park are present in one scene.
