Animal action is minimal in the film acting primarily as atmosphere. Corrina not only works for the Singer's , but does cleaning for wealthy families. Upon arriving at a mansion for work, a cat is seen briefly scampering up the outside stairs and off camera. On another day Corina arrives when the lady of the house is driving off in her limousine with her two whippets in the back seat. The only animals of note are a dog and a turtle. The dog is the pet of Corrina's family and is seen in several scenes either sitting and watching the children play or sitting on the sofa being stroked by the actors. In one scene he is fed a piece of food from the table by one of the children. The other animal, a turtle, is purchased by Corrina and Molly as a gift for Manny. The turtle is seen crawling out of his box and being stroked by Molly. He is later seated on a cushion on the sofa between Molly and Corrina when Corrina picks him up gently making him appear to stand on his hind legs and doing an amusing voice over as the turtle. In another scene the turtle is in Molly's doll house and knocks down one of the walls to reveal where she hides the cigarettes she does not want her dad nor Corrina to smoke. This scene was done in cuts. The doll house was made of a special break-away flimsy construction. The turtle moved from A to B, responding to verbal and visual commands from his trainer. She pushed the wall with her nose, causing the wall to tumble down. She was rewarded with food. In less significant moments, the turtle is seen walking around the yard and sitting in front of Molly as she feeds him pieces of grape.
