Featured Animal Action

In the scenes in the African village where we see chickens and goats in the background, trainers placed the animals on their marked and spread feed around to keep them in place. All animals were given food and water between takes. A pop up tent was also provided for the animals.

In the scene where the group of kids and the older man are in the car and the girl holds a dog in the backseat, the scene was actually shot on stage in front of a green screen. Although it looks as if the scene was shot in a car with the hot desert outside, the scene was filmed in an air conditioned studio.

In the scene where the dog licks the old man’s face, waking him up, the trainer first applied a small amount of baby food to the actor's chin while the dog watched so she was aware of it. On action, the dog was given verbal commands, and the dog licked the baby food off the actor’s face.

In the scene where the people stand in front of a school bus and one of the kids holds a dog, the boy and the dog were acquainted with each other prior to shooting the scene. After each take the trainer grabbed the dog and gave him food and water.

In the scene where the kids with the dog stand in front of the school bus and a monster appears and they jump back in the bus, this scene was filmed indoors on an air conditioned set. The actress holding the dog was prepped on how to hold the dog prior to shooting the scene.

Due to limited resources, American Humane Association did not monitor some of the dog action.
