In the scene where we see a man lead his daughter to a horse in a field, then he takes out a gun and shoots the horse, we never see the horse and the gun in the same frame. The trainer kept the horse in place by spreading hay on the ground. The actors were prepped on how to approach the horse. The gun was fake and the horse never reacted to its presence.
